Turning internet woes into play: how we surprised fans with Netflixs first web game

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Context

Netflix fans in India often struggled with buffering due to limited internet connectivity. While we couldn’t fix their internet speeds, we saw an opportunity to engage them in a different way—through entertainment that didn’t rely on streaming.

The Opportunity

Building on the success of our viral video series that reimagined Netflix’s iconic characters through Bollywood’s signature humor and action, I pitched an interactive extension: a web-based game designed as a fun, offline-friendly pastime, it kept fans engaged even when their connection dropped.

Outcome

The result? Netflix’s first-ever web game was covered by 150+ publications, including The Verge and Fast Company, with over 930,000 unique sessions globally in its first month.

highlights

"netflix fans just got the best belated holiday gift ever." mashable

"looking for procrastination candy?" adweek

"there are worse ways to spend your time than to spend five minutes to run from the demogorgon." fast company

"its the perfect way to kill a couple of minutes while you wait for the next episode to load." the verge
